Some New Year photos





The temperature dropped rapidly at New Year, and on the second day of the New Year tour, it snowed.
Light snow fell throughout the morning, making the tracks very slippery, and in some places difficult to find. It got much colder during the morning and the wind started to blow. Phil had a little sideways moment (no mud terrain tyres!), and when I reversed up the track to give him a tow, we found that his tow-rope that he had thoughtfully already attached to the front had frozen into a solid lump. We had to use a strop to straighten the Land Rover up.


We realised how cold it was getting when water splashed up from puddle froze instantly on contact with the windscreen and side window.
Although the temperature was dropping lower, and with the wind chill factor, the temperature was dropping to -25°C we continued, with frozen door locks and other minor problems, till near the end of the day we found floods had blocked the rode, so we called it a day, and headed back to the warmth of Lesdain.
