Mudplug's 4x4 adventures and off road tours and holidays in the French Massif Central for all makes of 4 x 4s, Land Rover, Jeep, Nissan, Toyota, Mercedes, Suzuki, Isuzu, etc. with sufficient underbody and steering protection. Mudplug's weekend tours for 4X4s in the North of France of the Battle Fields of the the tank Battle of Cambrai and the 1914 Battle of le Cateau, for all types of offroad vehicles (soft roaders) Freelander, Rav 4 Honda CRX with sufficient ground clearance.

Mudplug operates guided short break tours throughout the whole year around the Green Lanes of Northern France, and from February to November in the Massif Central, for you in your own 4x4 vehicle. We are based about 100 miles (160 kilometres) from Calais, which is easily accessible from the Channel Ports, and from Belgium, Holland and Germany.

We are mainly operating now in the Massif Central area south of Clermont Ferand, though we continue to operate 2 regular tours, at Christmas and Easter here in the North of France. As the climate became drier and the lanes were continually upgraded over the years to keep them open for the farmers, they are no longer as interesting as they used to be. However there is a historical interest in that we can follow the tracks of the tanks, and see the battlefields in a way that a normal car would not be able to. These tours, which can still be quite muddy in winter or after heavy rain can be tackled by most 4x4s in standard form.

We moved to Northern France from England some 20 years ago. When we were settled in, we started to explore in our old Range Rover some of the thousands of kilometres of Green Lanes that surround us here in Northern France, near to the battlefields of the Somme, and in the area of the Battle of Cambrai, the Worlds' first Tank Battle.

Exploring the lanes was a very interesting experience, seeing the seasons come and go; dust in the Summer and mud in the Winter; and soon we became more adventurous and wanted to explore further afield and so we joined a local 4x4 club. The old Range Rover wore out,we bought a new Suzuki Samurai, and in this vehicle we thoroughly enjoyed the club's "road book" excursions, including a memorable 2 day tour on one of the wettest Easter Weekends in memory driving 80 kilometres across the tracks to the town of Guise where we spent the night, returning the next day by a different route.

Over the Years our operations has evolved to cover the Massif Central in the centre of France, where the lanes and much more challenging, with hills, valleys and forests.
The 110 V8 has been replaced by a 110 TD5, and we have also assisted in the organisation of events and run weekends at the famous 5 pillars site, which now unfortunately is closed.
