Wednesday we had planned to just wander around and go to the local town, Brioude, to refuel at the supermarket so after a leisurely breakfast we set off to Brioude. Three very muddy Land Rovers parked together attracted quite a lot of attention, and soon the Manager of the Butchery department arrived in his blue Toyota Land Cruiser stopped and introduced himself and enquired if we were having a good time and had a look at the vehicles.
Later in the afternoon we decided to go to look at the beautiful village of Lavadieu, so off we went.
There were some nice lanes leading to it from Veille Brioude, some almost turning into streams after all the rain and snow from the week before.
The village was beautiful, and was entered across the bridge, and we left by crossing the ford. It was not deep but was closed to normal vehicle which could have been swept off by the fast flowing water but was still passable by heavy vehicles such as Tractors or large 4x4s.
After leaving the village we followed a track along the banks of the Senouire and then had to recross the river through a deeper ford before crossing the hills back to Villeneuve d'Allier for dinner.
