Massif Tour May 2009

During May we had a group of friends out on a tour. They came with 2 Defender 90s and 2 Discoveries. One of the 90s was a very interesting vehicle (not that any 90 is boring), but was unusual in that it had been fitted with TD5 engine and auto box, with all sorts of electronic wizzardry to control the box. Together with Quaife diffs front and rear it performed extremely well and gave me food for thought if ever the clutch/gearbox dies on my 110 TD5.

After winter, especially when there is a heavy snowfall, we often find trees brought down by the weight of the snow across the lanes. These we normally cut up with a chain saw or drag out of the way with the 4x4s or winch them out of the way.

This year we found a large tree stump and root ball blocking the track. On Page 2 you will find he photos of it's removal, using 2 winches. An interesting and challenging experiance.
